Roberto Castro Sedano is 38 years old, he is a worker in the Hygiene department at the IMSS and a candidate of the red banner for King of Joy of the Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 “La Perla”.

His job has not taken away from him the opportunity to go to meet the economic votes necessary to conquer the reign of Joy, during the last count to be held this Friday, February 7th at 6 pm in the Plazuela República.

What motivated you to participate?

“My biggest motivation that drove me to compete is that I have already participated in previous years in the parades as a comparsa and making costumes and makeup for my students.”

Why do you want to be the King of the Carnaval?

“I want to be that part of the history of Carnaval Mazatlán, I want to reach those young people who have the desire to be part of this party, who want to start like I started, participating in the parades as a comparsa and in the choreographies and evolving until becoming a candidate, that gives me a lot of strength to be here, to stand up in this contest.”

What does Carnaval Mazatlán represent for you? “It represents everything, it is the life of the Mazatlecan people, it is the culture, I have always said that if you are from Mazatlan you have a debt with the Carnaval because every Mazatlecan person has to have the moral, cultural, spiritual commitment to be a part of the greatest fiesta, so you know, I was born in Angostura, Sinaloa but I arrived at the port many years ago and being part of this history for me is a lot, thank you very much to all those people who have been supporting me and truly for me being part of this history is the best.”

A call to the population, something you want to say?

“I invite all the youth from now on to come and participate in a parade or in a float, whatever, but to commit to supporting this greatest fiesta.”
