On the afternoon of Tuesday, March 12th, at the Music Museum of the Municipal Arts Center, the awards ceremony for the best comparsas (troups) in the Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 parade took place.

The awards were presented by Alma Barajas, parade coordinator, representing the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan, and by the comparsa coordinator, Fabio Valdez.

Also presiding over the awards ceremony was Georgina Martínez, a dance teacher, cultural journalist, and children’s literature writer. She is currently the administrator of the Antonio Haas Theater of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in this city. She congratulated the participants and recognized their enormous effort and the spirit of joy with which they conveyed to the public during the parades on Carnaval Sunday and Tuesday.

Those in charge of evaluating the performances of the groups during the parades held on Sunday, March 2nd, and Tuesday, March 4th, were Jesús Manuel López Cruz, Miguel Ángel López Bustamante, and Georgina Martínez.

The points taken into account in the evaluation were coordination and originality of movement, choreography, setting, and the costumes, Georgina Martínez stated.

Third place, with a prize of 40,000 pesos, went to the group “Mares Eternos” from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa, led by Yosin Armenta Jaime/Estela Santín and Jairo Noriega.

Second place, with a prize of 60,000 pesos, went to the “Colores y Sueños” troupe from Idance Studio, led by maestro José Ramírez Sánchez.

The first place winner for best troupe of Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025, with a prize of 80,000 pesos, was “Al Compás de la Fiesta” from Danzare Studio, led by maestro Naysin Espinosa Coronado.

Naysin Espinosa Coronado expressed that she is celebrating 30 years in Carnavals, from floats to troupes, and that carnaval has given her love, passion, and a wealth of experiences through which a family is built.

Naysin emphasized that the parade on Tuesday, March 4th, was epic and thanked the parents for their support in making their children’s dream of marching come true. This was after a lot of hard work that was made easier with the support of the Institute of Cultura, the City Council, and the Security Plan implemented during the parades.
