CAROLINA III CROWNS HECTOR II, KING OF JOY OF CARNAVAL INTERNACIONAL MAZATLÁN 2024 “ECLIPSE BARROCO”
Full of choreographic elements and with an exhortation to think about the meaning of eclipses for our ancestors, the Teodoro Mariscal stadium was illuminated to project beautiful flashes of art during the coronation of Héctor II, King of Joy of Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 2024.
That night’s artistic cast made up of exponents of folk dance, brought to the stage the emotional interpretations derived from the eclipse.
In what represented a challenge for the stage space, the dancers presented a show that fused pre-Hispanic and modern dance with classical, techno and contemporary music.
The stage show produced by the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán addressed, through the language of dance, the theme of the eclipse, a very Mexican eclipse dedicated to the Mayan culture where each movement worshiped the sun and the moon; The second half offered a spectacular ballroom dance dedicated to the Baroque period to conclude with the contagious joy of Carnavals, especially that of Brazil, to the rhythm of the Brazilian batucada.
The choreographies were carried out by the Folkloric Ballet and the Youth Folkloric Ballet of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, directed by Javier Arcadia Ruiz and José Eric Carrillo Salas; the Mazahuatl Folkloric Ballet of CBTIS 51 with its director Blanca Gabriela Ibarra García and the 8 Tiempos de Concordia Academy, directed by José Garzón.
