The maximum festival of the port will be from February 8th to 13th

Mazatlán, Sinaloa, September 1, 2023.- As of this Friday, September 1st, applicants for the royalty of Carnaval Internacional de Mazatlán 2024 to be held from February 8th to 13th can submit their application to compete for the crowns of the highest fiesta, in the offices of CULTURA.

The launch of the call for the different royalty and prizes awarded within the framework of Carnival Mazatlán was held this Friday at the Museo de la Música in a press conference chaired by the current sovereigns of Carnival Mazatlán: Alejandra Tirado, Queen of Carnaval; Uma Ramírez, Queen of the Floral Games; Víctor Quiroz, King of Carnaval; Melanie Alarcón, Children’s Queen and Ivanna Arámburo, Queen of Poetry.

It was reported that in the case of the official candidates for Carnaval Queen they will be chosen by casting.

The official presentation of all the contestants will be on Thursday, October 19th. The election of the Children’s King and Queen will be on January 19th and the Carnaval Queen and Queen of the Floral Games will be elected on Saturday, January 20th.

Alejandra Tirado and Uma Ramírez reported that the candidates for Carnaval Queen and Floral Games Queen have until Thursday, October 5th at 5:00 p.m. to register for the contest.

In the conference it was specified that on Friday, October 6th at 7:00 p.m., is the deadline for the candidates for King and the candidates for the children’s king to formally request their registration in both contests.

Women born in Mazatlán, including its comisaries and unions, or having at least three years residing in this municipality, being single, not having been mothers, not married, not living in a free union and not being pregnant, as well as being between 17 and 27 years old on the day of the election, expressed the current queen of the highest fiesta in the port, Alejandra Tirado, who stressed that the call was modified to expand the age range of the participants because before the age limit was 25.

CULTURA will select between 6 and 12 applicants as candidates for Carnaval Queen and Queen of the Floral Games of the International Carnaval of Mazatlán. Applicants will be notified if they have been selected as official candidates, no later than October 12th, 2023.

CULTURA will carry out a casting for the selection of the candidates for Carnaval Queen and Queen of the Floral Games 2024, which will consist of a video test, catwalk, photo session and interview about knowledge of the history of the International Carnaval of Mazatlan, as well as the port.

The election of queens will take place on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ángela Peralta Theater. In the contest, criteria and beauty will be valued, and it will be qualified by a jury that will be designated by CULTURA in agreement with the contestants.

Election of the Children’s King and Queen of Carnaval

The aspiring official candidate of Carnaval Internacional de Mazatlán must be from Mazatlan by birth or have a residence of at least 3 years and be of legal age, said the King of Carnaval, Víctor Quiroz.

The aspiring child candidate for Carnaval Internacional de Mazatlán must be from Mazatlan by birth, or have a residence of at least 3 years and be between 6 and 12 years of age on the day of the election, commented Melanie Alarcón.

In both cases CULTURA will select from 2 to 5 participants as candidates and the applicants selected as official candidates will be notified on Saturday, October 7th.

Both the candidates for King and the two children’s reigns must contribute at least 65 thousand pesos in two deliveries: 30 thousand pesos on Friday, December 8th at 6:00 p.m. and 35 thousand pesos on January 19th, 2024 at the same time. These resources will be obtained through the sale of votes and each vote will have the value of 1 peso.

The first computation will take place in the Francisco Villa neighborhood and the second in the Plazuela Republica.

Almost at the end of the conference, Alejandra Tirado and Uma Ramírez invited young women to participate in the Carnaval contest because it is an experience that will change their life for the better by providing personal growth and allowing dreams to be fulfilled.

“For me, Carnaval has been a key piece, I take the crown as a good luck charm and a reminder that if we stop criticizing and focus on our preparation we can achieve our dreams,” said Alejandra Tirado.

In turn, the Queen of the Floral Games Uma Ramírez said that winning the crown is one of the best experiences of her life.

The King of Mazatlán Carnaval 2023, Víctor Quiroz said that the reign made him an ambassador of Mazatlán and it has been exciting to promote the city and its maximum fiesta in other destinations in the country, for which he invited young people to be encouraged and participate to experience this great dream.
