Siu Ling Cotero Chío achieves the title of Queen of the Floral Games
Mazatlán, Sinaloa, January 20, 2024.- Carolina Ruelas was elected Queen of Carnaval Internacional de Mazatlán 2024, “Eclipse Barroco” and Siu Ling Cotero Chío, won the title of Queen of the Floral Games during a close contest in which the intellectual, presence, character and universal values were important elements in the human integration of the winners.
On Saturday, January 20th, the night of the queen election produced by the Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, began with the presence of the cheerleaders cheering on their candidates; and in the dressing rooms of the Ángela Peralta Theater, all the beautiful participants were concentrated and with an intense vibration of vital energy.
At seven in the afternoon Libia Gavica, Queen of Carnaval Mazatlán 2020 and Ivanna Matamoros, Queen of the Floral Games 2022, appeared on stage after Mariana Guerrero (La Luna) and Gabriel Jiménez (El Sol) had danced to baroque rhythm accompanied by dancers from Corps de Danza and the Vilanova Dance Art Center under the direction of Montserrat Millán; A singular voice sounded throughout the theater and announced the new representatives of the Baroque Eclipse.
The voices of Ivanna and Libia were sometimes lost among the screams of the attendees who euphorically exclaimed the names of the candidates: Jasa, Aspasia, Irene, Georgina, Rubí, Samantha, Andrea, Catalina, Carolina and Siu Ling.
The batons impregnated every corner of the theater with sound pressure and added tension and power to the appearance among the audience of all of them as they entered through the main door of the theater and walked with panache and grace to a beautifully lit stage decorated with rich and intense colors. These gave absolute clarity to the elegant and extravagant nature of the Baroque.
The ballet appeared again, its dancers wore costumes with the colors of the Mazatlan sunsets, then the candidates returned to cross the catwalk with elegant and sublime steps, smiling, exuding beauty.
The hosts announced Pamela Farriols, Melissa Coppel, Elsa María López, Sarah Holcombe Urquijo, Zoila Fernández, Sergio de la Fuente, Javier Magaña, Víctor Ruiz, Juan José Rodríguez and Arturo Santamaría as judges for the election of the new queens.

Carolina Ruelas was the candidate who had the semifinal turn in this round, the question she took from the glass fish tank was: What would you contribute to Mazatlán as Carnaval Queen?
Carolina added a brief silence to respond: “Very good evening, since I was little I have admired the Carnaval queens, their beauty, their elegance, but above all there are some queens who have stood out for their initiative, for wanting to contribute to improving our Mazatlán . I want to be a Carnaval queen to represent the culture, history and traditions of our port, and like the queens who inspired me, I want to do my part, and as a doctor help people improve their health with a spirit of love and service. I want to be a transformational leader, who encourages the motivation, preparation and growth of others. I want to be able to be queen to be the image, the intelligence and the charisma… That characterizes all Mazatlecan women, thank you!”
The final candidate in the question round was Siu Ling, the question was: What does it mean to you to be Carnaval Queen?
Siu Ling responded: “CarnavalMazatlán, in addition to being one of the oldest in Mexico, has become one of the most important in the world. Like every Mazatlecan girl, I carry in my soul the desire to be queen of Carnaval, but above all because I have prepared myself for this. I know that the woman who wears the crown must be an empathetic, brave, have dreams, a resilient woman. These same qualities that my family has taught me make me the woman I am today. I am convinced that I have the condition, the character and the strength to represent all the Mazatlecas and contribute my knowledge, my time, my greatest effort so that soon… Our greatest party becomes the best Carnaval in the world!

Alexandra I later appeared on stage to mention everyone who made up her team with which she was able to successfully carry out her reign. She called on everyone to fight for her dreams and emphasized that she insisted on achieving the dream of her life. on two occasions, to finally be Queen of Carnaval Mazatlán 2023.
The dancers returned to the stage and the singular voice announced that spring would show the chosen ones of the sun, so it was, the beautiful white roses arrived for Siu Ling Cotero Chío, Queen of the Floral Games and Carolina Ruelas, Queen of Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 2024.
