Inspired by her mother who was queen at school when she was “little”, María Paula Velarde García wants to be the next Children’s Queen of Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 2024 “Baroque Eclipse” to be held from the 8th to the 13th of February.

Excited, the seven-year-old girl and second-year primary school student enjoyed the first demonstration of the Carnaval, handing out kisses and greetings during the tour through the northern avenues of the City.

Upon arriving at the square in the Francisco Villa neighborhood, María Paula completed the delivery of economic votes that placed her as the winner of the first count with the delivery of $160,120 pesos.

Happy, accompanied by her mother Natalia García Rocha and her father Ricardo Velarde Cárdenas, María Paula smiled at her yellow supporters and attended to the media.

“I want to tell all the girls to fulfill their dream of being queens,” she said while she couldn’t stop smiling.

On the day of the first count, Givanna Valdez Miranda, 8 years old, managed to continue in the race for the children’s crown of the greatest port festival by delivering 38,500 economic votes.

Accompanied by her purple baton and encouraged by her parents Alejandro Valdez and Tania Miranda, Givanna paraded along Av. Francisco Solís and Bicentenario, Av. Delfín and Av. de las Torres until reaching the Francisco Villa neighborhood where in the midst of a festive atmosphere she completed the delivery of her votes during the first scrutiny of Carnaval Mazatlán 2024.

Minutes after learning the results, Givanna spoke to the media and assured that for her Carnaval “is joy” and she wants to be Children’s Queen of the greatest Port festival “because I have always wanted to fulfill my dreams and those of my family.”

-What would you like to say to the children and the public?
“Let them move forward, follow all their dreams and don’t turn back,” she said.
