On a historic night, Ángela Salazar Irigoyen won the title of Children’s Queen of Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 “La Perla”, and Brayan Gamboa Durán managed to win the title of King of Joy.
In a historic event, the competition for the children’s crown managed to capture the attention of the population in an unprecedented way, diverting the focus from the traditional competition between the candidates for Queens of the biggest port fiesta.
Since two in the afternoon, the esplanade of Plazuela República was filled with the presence of the yellow supporters, who support the young girl Ángela Salazar and the pink supporters who sympathize with Ximena Lizárraga.
After eight in the evening, with a total of 4 million 293 thousand 815 votes, Ángela reached the highest children’s crown of the port, while Ximena Lizárraga Correa registered 4 million 3 thousand votes, obtaining the Queen of Poetry sash in the La Perla edition.
In the men’s contest, Brayan Gamboa Durán obtained the support of 256 thousand 921 votes, so he will be crowned King of Joy; Sergio Osuna Corona with 105 thousand 400.5 votes, obtained the title of Royal Prince and Roberto Castro accumulated 103 thousand 100 votes and the title of Marquis.
After learning the results, the happiness in the cheering groups exploded in jubilation, overflowing with shouts of emotion and tears, while on the platform the congratulations for the new sovereigns were not long in coming from each of the participating candidates.
Fiesta
For this special episode, the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán offered a great party with live music by the versatile group Maz Show, and the Vilanova Ballet, directed by teacher Montserrat Millán, delighted those present with various choreographies, a dance landscape of traditional and international rhythms.
Carolina III, Queen of the Mazatlán Carnival 2024, Siu Ling I, Queen of the Floral Games 2024, the current King of Joy, Héctor Limón, and María Paula Velarde and Givanna Valdez, the girls who happily said goodbye to the children’s reigns, could not be missing on this great night.
The fireworks were present and the first projectile in the sky marked the spectacular start with the good vibes and the musical show that made the audience dance, songs like “Chiquilla”, “Sabes a chocolate”, “Mi dulce niña”, songs by Kumbia Kings, the classic cumbias like “Se me perdido la cadenita”, “Qué bello”, “Se me olvidó otra vez”, “Agachadito”, “Levantando las manos”, “17 años”, among others generated a festive atmosphere for more than three hours in the Plazuela República.
With different outfits for each scene presented, the 28 dancers from Vilanova danced songs like “El toro mambo”, “Letts get out”, to the rhythm of samba they danced “Magdaleña”, and ended with the popular song in the port “Soy de Mazatlán”, the official theme of Mazatlán International Carnval 2025 “La Perla”.
On this special night, the candidates for Queens of Carnaval Mazatlan could not be missed: Lesly Acosta (green cheer); Mariana Valverde (blue), Samantha Godoy (white), Sandra Tirado (silver), Mariant Franco (black), Grecia Rodriguez (yellow), Fernanda Velazco (orange), Desiré Velázquez (pink), Lucero Lizárraga (purple), María Fernanda Ramírez (sky blue), Evelyn Pineda (gold) and Melissa Cuevas (red).

On the verge of tears of happiness for the event where she was elected Children’s Queen of the Mazatlan International Carnaval, Angela Salazar Irigoyen, said she felt very excited about this triumph and above all very grateful for the support she had from each person who gave her their vote of confidence.
Surrounded by her fellow candidates and sheltered by her loved ones, the little nine-year-old from Mazatlán showed her happiness at this victory, and invited everyone to enjoy Carnaval Mazatlán that will take place from February 27th to March 4th.
“Thank you very much and I love you all very much, my dad, my mom, my whole family, I feel proudly happy, my dream has come true, come to the Carnaval because it will be great, I am very happy,” were the first words of Angela, evidently excited and with her face wet with tears of happiness.
