Poets aspiring to win the LXXXIX Clemencia Isaura Poetry Prize 2024 have until Friday, December 29th at 6:00 p.m. to deliver their collections of poems to the offices of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán.
Esteban Peraza Ramos, coordinator of sending calls and receiving work for the contest, indicated that so far a dozen pieces have been received, which remain protected, to later be sent to the qualifying jury responsible for choosing the winning work.
The winner will receive the Natural Flower and a financial prize of 80 thousand pesos during the coronation of the Queen of the Floral Games of Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 2024.
“There is almost a month left and I tell you to hurry up to send your poetic peces to participate in this contest, you must send composition in unpublished verse, with theme, form and free extension,” reported Peraza Ramos.
All poets born in Mexico and residing in the Mexican Republic may participate. Works from foreigners who have lived in this country for a minimum of three years will be accepted; Unpublished works on a free topic must be sent in an envelope with four copies, signed with a pseudonym and a separate receipt.
The participating poetry collections must be sent by parcel to the Organizing Committee of the Floral Games, at Avenida Miguel Alemán #203, Colonia Centro, Postal Code 82000. Or to Postal Box Number 336 in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
The decision of the call will be announced on Thursday, January 18th, 2024 and the winner will be informed by telephone according to the decision of the qualifying jury, a decision that will be final.
The winner of the literary contest that is part of the cultural program of Carnaval Internacional de Mazatlán, will be awarded with La Flor Natural, will receive a check for 80 thousand pesos and will partially read the winning work during the coronation of the Queen of the Floral Games of Carnaval de Mazatlán 2024, Friday, February 9th.
