The steel sculptures, covered with fabric and paper mache covered with colored paint and varnish, impress the viewer; Each of the details that stand out have magical, romantic and illuminated meanings that encourage you to think about the magnificence of the Milky Way.
The presence of “The Sun King, Sol de la Luna and Baroque Eclipse on the boardwalk, have the great framework of the Mexican Pacific, the one that José Alfredo Jiménez says is “Something without equal.”

Regarding his participation in the current edition of Carnaval Internacional Mazatlán 2024 with the motto “Baroque Eclipse”, he expresses that he has the great responsibility of making and being a legend and Mazatlán is inspiring and it is magical to be able to achieve it because its people and its beaches They are beautiful, and the teamwork with people from Monterrey and Mazatlán makes him feel very happy.
Jorge González does not hesitate to affirm that the presence of his father – maestro Jorge González Neri (+) is always with him and his work team to scold and demand from them.
“The legacy that my father left me was commitment, his creative work was magical, spectacular, he had many ideas,” “El Hijo de Neri” emotionally expresses.
Carnaval, a time to work
For Raúl David Morales, Carnaval is an opportunity to work. He is integrated as an assistant in the Operations team of the Instituto de Cultura and what motivates him most to work in this area is the culture surrounding the work of Carnaval.
David assures that he belongs to an effective human team because they always get the job done, his family and friends feel happy knowing that he collaborates in the organization of the Carnaval.
“They feel happy about my work, behind all this Carnaval there are things from our ancestors, Carnaval has been one of our representations,” emphasizes Raúl David.
Marco González in the past worked in Operations at the Instituto de Cultura, now he is the driver of a truck where he transports the monigotes to be installed and says that working on Carnaval is something that he cannot shake.
For Marco, although sometimes the logistics are complicated because in Mazatlán some streets are small, that factor does not take away the satisfaction of arriving home and telling the story of the day, those stories motivate his family, in addition to living with artists and colleagues for many years of work makes him feel a brotherhood that is “very cool, since everyone is loved.”
Juan Iram Martínez Reyes shares that these days have been a little stressful and laborious, with time measured, but they are almost finishing installing the last statues.
“The stress never goes away, the stress doesn’t go away even when Carnaval ends and we are still going on, but you learn to love Carnaval, you feel satisfaction when you see that everything that was placed causes admiration in people and everything feels very gratifying ”.
Regarding the monigote that had the most complications during the installation, he responded: “I think the most complicated was the one that was installed at the Fisherman’s Monument, due to the size of the skirt, it was 5 meters high and more or less a diameter of 4 meters, I am totally proud of our work team,” Irám concluded.
