Mazatlán Carnaval is one of the best festivals internationally, it is culture, art and tradition, a celebration that distinguishes the city, says Evelyn María Pineda Medina, candidate for Queen of the biggest Port festival.
What do you want to achieve if you win a Carnaval reign?
“For me it would be very important to continue promoting Mazatlan culture and traditions, also promote social activism, raise awareness about the need to keep our beaches clean and protect our natural places, I would like to promote respect for animal rights,” says the 23-year-old student of Bachelor of Arts Education.
If you win the crown, what are you committed to?
As a student of culture and a practitioner of art, I would love to see traditions such as the deer dance and pre-Hispanic dances preserved. I would commit to working to achieve this and to continue promoting awareness campaigns to protect the environment and animals, says the candidate of the golden cheerleader.
What is the most important virtue to wear a crown?
“Courage, empathy and perseverance, because to be a queen you don’t only need a symbol like a crown, but also a demonstration of intelligence and perseverance, and of course, empathy towards the people.”
Any message for the population?
“Of course, to continue working to enhance Carnaval, which is not just a party, it is a commemoration of more than one hundred years that must be preserved because it is not just about competing for a crown, Carnaval is culture, art and tradition.”
