Winning a reign is the beginning of many dreams, many goals that come with this contest, with this award, with this crown, says Fernanda Lizbeth Velasco Zatarain, candidate of the orange banner for Queen of the Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025.
Audiovisual Producer, the young 25-year-old candidate expresses that personally, she wants to have the strength and courage to fulfill each of her goals, to be very tenacious, disciplined and achieve each of her objectives, both personally and professionally.
What do you propose so that the Mazatlán International Carnaval endures and manages to position itself as the best?
“For me, for the people of Mazatlán and for many tourists, the Mazatlán Carnaval is one of the best. I propose that it continues to have that unity and that strength, that beautiful tradition that brings families together every year and reunites us with old friends and is an endless party.”
“(I propose) never to stop believing in this fiesta, traditions are always instilled in us at home and one of the traditions is this Carnaval, so our new generations will continue this tradition, I think that is where what this fiesta is is born and endures.”
What do you want to achieve if you win a Carnaval reign? What commitments would you make for yourself so that, if you win, your reign would transcend over time?
“Many queens have passed through the history of Carnaval, but few have remained as an example. They are all worthy of admiration, but being an example, a woman who represents all the values of Mazatlán, all the values of a Carnaval and who carries the tradition in her blood, in her bones, in her family. I think that is something that should always endure.”
What is the most important virtue to wear a crown?
“The most important virtue is empathy. A queen must have many qualities, above all responsibility, discipline, being a person of integrity, but for me, a Carnaval queen is a disciplined person because this entails a lot of commitment.”
Any message to the population?
“I want to represent the Carnaval because I want to be the dignified woman who fills and reaches all the hearts of Mazatlán and tourism.”
