I would like to win the crown of King of Joy to promote the culture, traditions, gastronomy and joy of our Carnaval in other cities, said Sergio Alberto Osuna Corona.
The 33-year-old candidate for King of Joy works as an administrative manager in the restaurant area and says he is ready to arrive with great enthusiasm to the grand final of the contest that he has waited a long time for.
What motivated you to participate? “I was motivated by certain things that have happened to me lately in life and I made the decision to take that step. It is another challenge for me. I have always been afraid of cameras. I have always been behind people supporting them in any decision they make. I am always behind them, I always help other people, but it is very difficult for me to support myself. I criticize myself a lot. Sometimes I knock down my own dream and I said, not this time, I have to live, I have to take that step! and say yes, it is possible.”
Why do you want to be the king of the Carnaval? “I want to be the king, because I have seen the other kings who have passed through this and each one has left me with a lesson and I would like to be the king, because I see this as a job because the kings are tourist promoters. They go to other states, to other countries and I have seen them promote Mazatlán.”
What does Carnaval Mazatlán represent for you? “It is pride, it is the union of family, friendship, fun, dancing, but it is more than anything the union of all the people, of all the people of the whole family and we always go to go and see parades and everything.”
What color is your cheerleading banner? “My cheerleading is green.”
A call to the population, something you want to say? “That they support us, that they join the green cheerleading, I would really like them to support me for this dream, that they get excited, it is something new and novel for me and it is a very nice experience that I have been living and it is to achieve a dream, to get excited and not be afraid, because sometimes when we are in this environment you expose yourself a lot to criticism but it is not fair because it is very easy to judge and they do not know everything that this is, of being in front, of exposing yourself and we also have life and we know our details but we are not perfect and each thing makes us unique.”
