After two years of absence, the creator of royal floats, Ocean Rodríguez, returns to the Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 “La Perla”, with the confidence of excelling and creating floats that are acclaimed by the public.
Ocean is a talented Mazatlecan artist, designer and producer of set design for the television industry, and in 2025 he will be the creator of the floats of the Carnaval Queen, the Queen of the Floral Games, the King of Joy and the Children’s Queen. In addition, he will create an allegorical float in tribute to the 35-year career of the band La Adictiva.
From his creations workshop, Ocean Rodríguez explained that his floats will be an “ocean of emotions,” with designs inspired by the marine world, the sunsets of the port and Mazatlan International Carnaval.
Through his rolling floats, the public will be able to marvel at the beauty of the marine flora and fauna: dolphins, corals, whales and reefs, among other species with which he hopes to achieve a magical connection with the thousands of spectators during the parades on Sunday, March 2nd and Tuesday, March 4th.
“My intention is to generate a certain Mazatlecan mythology of the elements we see in the sea and bring them to a mythological float,” he said.
In the parades of the next Carnaval we will see floats in shades of blue, sand and gold, which cannot be missed, says the talented Mazatlan artist.
With experience in the creation of real floats, Ocean and his team work hard to offer works of ephemeral art that will be more than 15.5 meters high.
“I’m coming back for this Carnaval rested and that helped me design. It’s about evolving year after year, and I’ll keep trying to do my job better.”
“If I surpass myself, my intention is to make them bigger, better, detailed and with lots of color. The intention is to reach higher than I thought, so that the postcard will go down in history and be very pretty,” he exclaimed.
Ocean Rodríguez also shared an anecdote that left a mark on him as a designer. “One year, I designed a float with a space theme and, at the end of the party, a girl dressed as an astronaut approached the float and got very excited. That special emotion continues to motivate me day after day,” he said.
Just a few days before the start of Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 “La Perla”, Ocean invites everyone to enjoy these special days.
“I hope the public enjoys the floats and the Carnaval in general. It’s a special moment for the city and for me,” he said.
Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 “La Perla” will take place from February 27th to March 4th and will feature the participation of more than 31 floats, cheerful dance groups, and a variety of cultural and artistic events.
